Growing up, working in my family’s garden was NOT a choice, it was required to get my allowance- boo! Now I find great joy in prepping my Dad’s garden and seeing the fruits, and vegetables, of our labor. Here are 4 simple tips that my friends at organicauthority.com have laid out to prep your Spring going:
DIG DEEP: The best gardens are 6 to 18 inches deep. It all depends on what you’re growing and your soil’s natural state.
SUCCULENT SOIL: Take a sample of your soil to your garden store to test what minerals might be missing and the acidity levels. They’ll recommend what you need to get it in tip-top shape.
MULCH-IFY: Adding mulch helps protect your early planters from freezing over, as Spring times weather can fluctuate. It also helps combat your gardens nemesis, weeds!
WATER WORKS: Chart out your watering hose path before you plant so you don’t end up individually watering each plant by hand. This saves precious water and your even more precious time.
Happy Prepping!
